The European Muslims League (EML) welcomes the statement issued by Kaja Kallas, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, on the occasion of the International Day Commemorating the Victims of Acts of Violence Based on Religion or Belief.
The European Union reaffirmed freedom of thought, conscience, religion or belief as a fundamental right and reiterated the commitment to combating antisemitism, anti-Muslim hatred, discrimination and violence affecting Christians and other religious communities.
Commenting on the issue, President of the European Muslims League, Amb. Alfredo Maiolese, stated:
«“The words of High Representative Kaja Kallas remind us of a responsibility that concerns us all. We cannot demand respect only for our own faith while remaining indifferent when people of other religions are targeted. Defending a Muslim who is a victim of hatred, a Jew who is a victim of antisemitism, or a Christian who is persecuted means defending the same principle: human dignity and the freedom to believe. This is also the spirit of ‘Kick War Away’: educating young people, above all, to meet one another before someone teaches them to divide.”»
This principle finds concrete expression in the third edition of “Kick War Away”, promoted by the European Muslims League under the High Patronage of WOS-IPSP, an intergovernmental organization, to be held on 9 and 10 October 2026 in Ceranesi, Campomorone and Genoa, Italy.
The initiative will bring together young people, institutions, local authorities, associations, religious communities and representatives from the world of sport, transforming dialogue into a tangible experience of encounter.
The European Muslims League has also invited Kaja Kallas to contribute to the initiative with a brief institutional message addressed to the participants, which may be presented during the closing ceremony.
Peace is built before conflicts begin: by educating people to respect one another, creating opportunities for encounter, and teaching new generations that differences must never become divisions.
