The European Muslims League is following with great interest the dialogue taking place in Baku among religious authorities, institutions and representatives of the international Muslim community.

The 7th Meeting of the Heads of Muslim Religious Administrations of the Member States of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) was held in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, providing an important opportunity for dialogue on cooperation among Muslim religious institutions and the major challenges facing our societies today.

Present at the meeting is Dr. Nizar Ramadan, Mass Media Adviser to the European Muslims League (EML) and Director of Kmetro0, the news outlet that has published a report on the international gathering in Baku.

The European Muslims League views international initiatives of this level with particular interest. Although the Meeting originates within the framework of the countries of the Organization of Turkic States, the issues being addressed extend beyond the geographical boundaries of the region and are also directly relevant to Muslims in Europe.

Combating Islamophobia, xenophobia, extremism and discrimination, together with promoting dialogue, education, knowledge and cooperation among different Muslim communities, represents a shared responsibility.

These principles significantly converge with the work carried out by EML in Europe and, in particular, with the activities of the EML Islamophobia Watch – European Monitoring & Response Unit, which is committed to monitoring, verifying, documenting and responding to Islamophobia and misinformation concerning Islam and Muslims.

The presence in Baku of Dr. Nizar Ramadan, in the context of his journalistic and professional activities, is also of particular interest to EML, considering his role as the organization’s Mass Media Adviser.

At a historical moment marked by international tensions, polarization and the increasing spread of hate speech, dialogue among religious authorities, scholars, journalists and institutions can contribute to building a culture of responsibility and constructive engagement.

For the European Muslims League, the future of Muslims in Europe cannot be separated from dialogue with the wider Muslim world. At the same time, the experience of European Muslims can make an important contribution to building societies based on peaceful coexistence, mutual understanding and respect.
