The Secretariat of the European Muslims League (EML) extends its compliments to the Ministry of Economy and Finance and to the Istituto Poligrafico e Zecca dello Stato for the issuance of the silver coin triptych “The three monotheistic religions under the sky of Rome”, dedicated to Christianity, Islam and Judaism and bearing the meaningful inscription “In Abraham three faiths one vision”.
The official presentation took place in the Giulio Cesare Hall on the Capitoline Hill, in the presence of the Mayor of Rome Roberto Gualtieri and the top management of the State Mint and Polygraphic Institute, with a video message from the Minister of Economy and Finance Giancarlo Giorgetti.
The coins were symbolically presented to the three representatives of the monotheistic faiths in the Italian capital: for Christianity, Archbishop Vincenzo Paglia, President of the Pontifical Academy for Life; for Judaism, Chief Rabbi Riccardo Di Segni, Chief Rabbi of Rome; for Islam, Imam Dr Nader Akkad, Vice President of the European Muslims League and imam of the Great Mosque of Rome.
EML is particularly pleased that its Vice President, Imam Dr Nader Akkad, received this distinction within an initiative that aims to embody in a concrete symbol the value of inter-religious dialogue and peaceful coexistence. As he underlined, the minaret, the bell-tower and the synagogue dome depicted on the three coins “embrace one another in a fraternal way”, presenting Rome as a meeting place among faiths.
On this occasion, the Secretariat of the European Muslims League praises the daily efforts of all EML members who, often far from the spotlight, pursue a silent yet effective religious diplomacy, based on listening, mediation, countless small gestures of closeness and the patient building of trust among different communities.
For EML, this numismatic issuance is also a call to persevere along this path, enhancing the shared Abrahamic dimension of the three monotheistic religions as a foundation for peace, mutual respect and a common responsibility toward the city and the wider world. The European Muslims League hopes that the message accompanying these coins will inspire new initiatives of dialogue and cooperation, especially for younger generations.
