In today’s world, intelligence is often measured by one’s ability to gain personal advantage, accumulate wealth, or outsmart others. Cleverness is confused with wisdom, and cunning with discernment.
Islam, however, teaches us a completely different vision: true intelligence is born from an honest heart and an awareness of Allah.

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:

“The truly intelligent person is the one who controls himself and works for what comes after death, while the foolish one follows his desires and merely hopes in Allah.”
(Tirmidhi)

This teaching expresses an essential truth: the mind of the believer is clear because it is guided by moral consciousness. A person may be brilliant, quick in reasoning, and skillful in speech, but if he uses his intellect to deceive or take advantage of others, his wisdom becomes injustice.
Intelligence without ethics is like a sword without a sheath: it can strike, but it cannot protect.

In Islamic tradition, honesty and intelligence are not opposites — they complete one another. The Prophet ﷺ, even before the revelation, was known as Al-Amīn, “the trustworthy one.”
To be intelligent, from an Islamic perspective, means to foresee the consequences, to choose truth even when it is costly, and to remember that every action leaves a trace before Allah.

Islam teaches that honesty is a form of spiritual intelligence: those who do not betray, who do not lie, who keep their word, build not only clean and solid relationships, but also earn the barakah (divine blessing) that accompanies every step.
The Qur’an affirms:

“Indeed, Allah loves those who act justly.”
(Surah Al-Mumtahanah, 60:8)

Today, more than ever, in a society that rewards appearance and cunning, the believer must show that true intelligence is the one that walks hand in hand with righteousness.
Being honest does not mean being naïve; it means seeing further, understanding that success without truth is temporary, while sincerity builds peace, trust, and lasting respect.

The European Muslims League reminds that the strength of our community lies not only in knowledge or wealth, but in the union of mind and heart, reason and honesty, which represents the very essence of faith.
