In an international context marked by conflicts, inequalities and growing social tensions, the contribution of local communities and civil society has become increasingly central to the promotion of peace and coexistence. Peace is not built exclusively within international institutional arenas, but takes shape every day in local contexts, through dialogue, mutual respect and cooperation among people of different cultures, religions and backgrounds.
The European Muslims League (EML) has long operated with this awareness, promoting initiatives of intercultural and interreligious dialogue, social cooperation and civic participation. EML’s action is grounded in the conviction that every community, regardless of its size or visibility, can offer a concrete contribution to the construction of a more just, inclusive and peaceful society.
Through grassroots engagement, dialogue among religious and civil communities, and cooperation with local authorities and institutions, EML promotes a bottom-up approach to peace, capable of transforming universal values into daily practices. In this process, communities become active protagonists, not merely recipients of decisions taken elsewhere, but responsible actors of positive and lasting change.
EML’s commitment is part of a broader vision of international cooperation, in which dialogue among people also strengthens dialogue among institutions. Experiences developed at the local level represent a valuable resource for fostering a culture of peace based on listening, mutual understanding and the dignity of every human being.
In this spirit, the President of the European Muslims League, Alfredo Maiolese, has underlined that dialogue among communities and mutual respect are essential tools for giving substance to the principles of peace and inclusion, transforming them into concrete practices within local contexts.
EML therefore renews its commitment to acting as a bridge between communities, civil society and institutions, convinced that lasting peace is built by starting from people, territories and human relationships, with full respect for differences and the shared values that unite us.
