The European Muslims League (EML) has reached a major institutional achievement through the formalization of a Headquarters Agreement with the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, marking a significant step in its international development and diplomatic engagement.
The agreement, concluded through the efforts of EML Peace Ambassador Dr. Mohamed Bahah, represents the evolution of an already established framework of cooperation with Mauritanian institutions, following a previous collaboration with the Ministry of Culture.
The official document establishes the legal recognition of EML within the territory of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, granting the organization full juridical personality and the capacity to operate in accordance with national legislation. This includes the ability to enter into contracts, manage assets, and carry out institutional activities within a clearly defined legal framework.
The Agreement also provides for the establishment of an official headquarters in Mauritania, strengthening the operational presence of EML and enabling the coordination of its initiatives at both national and regional levels.
In line with international practice, the Agreement outlines a set of functional privileges and guarantees necessary to ensure the effective implementation of the organization’s mission. These include the protection of official communications, the inviolability of archives, and appropriate safeguards for the organization’s assets and personnel.
A central element of the Agreement is the shared commitment to promote initiatives aimed at peacebuilding, social justice, and sustainable development. Particular attention is given to actions addressing poverty reduction, human dignity, and international cooperation, reflecting the core values and mission of the European Muslims League.
This institutional recognition by a sovereign State confirms the growing role of EML as a credible and structured actor in the field of international dialogue, cooperation, and peace promotion.
The President of EML and Ambassador at Large, Alfredo Maiolese, declared that this agreement represents a concrete outcome of sustained diplomatic work and reinforces the organization’s commitment to building bridges between institutions, cultures, and peoples.
This achievement also highlights the importance of dialogue and cooperation between civil society organizations and governments, contributing to a shared vision of stability, mutual respect, and peaceful coexistence.
