Kick War Away – Third Edition
Sport, Territories and Civic Participation for Peace
The Third Edition of Kick War Away represents the natural evolution of a path that has demonstrated, over time, how sport can become a concrete instrument for dialogue, shared responsibility and cooperation among territories.
The project was conceived as a cultural and civic initiative aimed at promoting a culture of peace founded on respect, dialogue and active participation by communities. Kick War Away is not a single event, but a process that grows over time through the contribution of territories, local institutions and citizens.
The Genoa Declaration of Peace
From the city of Genoa originated the Declaration of Peace, a shared and symbolic act that gave rise to the Kick War Away process as an initiative with an international dimension.
In this context, Genoa symbolically presents itself as the World Capital of Peace for one day, becoming a place of encounter among territories, cultures and citizens united by a universal message of coexistence, dialogue and shared commitment to peace.
The Territories that Initiated the Process
The project was launched through institutional cooperation among the Liguria Region, the Municipality of Genoa, the Municipality of Serra Riccò, and the Municipality of Pizzo Calabro (VV).
These territories represented the initial core of the initiative, contributing decisively to its institutional credibility and continuity over time.
Institutional Roles
Kick War Away is promoted and operationally organized by the European Muslims League (EML).
The initiative takes place under the High Patronage of the World Organization of States – International Parliament for Safety and Peace (WOS-IPSP), an intergovernmental organization, acting as the international institutional framework of the project.
The initiative is developed within the broader context of interreligious dialogue promoted in the city of Genoa, without attribution of operational roles.
Non-Profit Nature of the Initiative
Kick War Away – Third Edition is a non-profit initiative.
It pursues exclusively cultural, social, educational and institutional objectives, aimed at promoting peace, dialogue and civic participation through sport.
No commercial activities, profit distribution, fees or economic advantages are foreseen for organizers, participants or involved entities.
All forms of participation, recognition and visibility are free of charge, symbolic and non-commercial.
A Voluntary Commitment by Municipalities for Peace
Participation, Hospitality and International Visibility
Participation in Kick War Away – Third Edition represents a voluntary and symbolic choice through which municipalities actively take part in a shared path for the promotion of peace.
Each participating municipality is invited to designate two participants:
a football player, who will take part in the International Municipal Team, and
a runner, who will participate in the Peace Run.
The travel, accommodation and subsistence costs of the two participants designated by each municipality for activities taking place in Genoa are borne by the municipality itself or by the participants, also through the support of third parties, associations or local entities.
The organization does not provide financial coverage for travel or accommodation expenses of municipal participants.
Participating municipalities, both Italian and international, may also offer, on a voluntary and symbolic basis, a period of three days of hospitality, including accommodation and meals, to two selected winners of the Peace Run. Travel expenses remain the responsibility of the hosted participants.
In return, the municipality becomes part of the network of territories committed to peace, receives institutional and public visibility within the project, and contributes to strengthening an international initiative based on dialogue, respect and cooperation among communities and institutions.
Regulations for Municipal Participation
Participation in Kick War Away – Third Edition takes place on a voluntary basis through institutional adhesion, without mandatory expenses, budgetary commitments or binding administrative obligations for municipalities.
Participation, hospitality and reception activities are carried out on a voluntary and symbolic basis, also through the involvement of third parties, associations or hospitality facilities.
Each participating municipality is included in the network of participating territories and is mentioned in the official communication of the project for its institutional contribution.
All forms of participation are of a cultural, social and symbolic nature and do not generate legal or financial obligations.
