The intense heatwaves affecting numerous regions of the world, from Europe to the Middle East, offer an important moment for reflection for all humanity. Exceptionally high temperatures are placing severe pressure on public health, particularly affecting the elderly, children, the sick, and those living in vulnerable conditions.

Islam teaches that human life is a blessing entrusted by Allah and that its protection is among the highest moral responsibilities. In the face of the challenges caused by extreme heat, every believer is called upon to demonstrate solidarity, care, and mercy toward others, ensuring that no one is left alone to face situations of danger.

The Holy Qur’an reminds us that Allah created the universe with balance and measure. Human beings have been entrusted with the responsibility of acting as stewards of the Earth and of the resources placed at their disposal. For this reason, Islam encourages moderation, respect for nature, and the rejection of all forms of waste.

Water, in particular, occupies a central place in the Islamic tradition. It is described in the Qur’an as the source of life and one of the greatest blessings granted to humanity. At a time when many regions of the world are facing drought, extreme temperatures, and environmental challenges, its responsible use becomes even more significant.

The challenges we witness today should not become a cause of division among peoples but rather an opportunity to strengthen cooperation, solidarity, and a shared sense of responsibility. Environmental protection, support for scientific research, and assistance to vulnerable communities are objectives capable of bringing together people of different cultures and faiths.

Commenting on the current situation, Alfredo Maiolese, President of the European Muslims League (EML), stated:

“Islam teaches us that mercy toward others and respect for Creation are integral parts of faith. The heatwaves affecting many countries remind us of our duty to protect human life, support the most vulnerable, and use wisely the resources that Allah has entrusted to us. In times of difficulty, solidarity and cooperation remain essential tools for building a more just and safer society for all.”

During these particularly challenging days, the European Muslims League invites Muslim communities and all citizens to pay special attention to vulnerable individuals, promote responsible behavior, and remember that every act of assistance toward another human being is a righteous deed beloved by Allah.

And Allah knows best.

May the peace, mercy, and blessings of Allah be upon you.
