We live in a time where technology and social media have become integral parts of daily life. Yet, this progress has also opened the door to new forms of violence and discrimination, among them cyberbullying, which increasingly affects children, adolescents, and young adults.

For the European Muslims League (EML), protecting young people in the digital environment is not only a social necessity but also a moral and religious duty. In Islam, respect for human dignity is a fundamental value. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “The true Muslim is the one from whose tongue and hands others are safe.” (Authentic Hadith). Today, this teaching extends naturally to our behavior in the digital world.

Cyberbullying erodes trust, causes isolation, and can lead to serious psychological harm. Therefore, families, schools, and religious communities must work together to educate young people toward responsible and compassionate use of technology. Islamic teachings, grounded in mercy, justice, and solidarity, offer a universal model for building a more humane and respectful online environment.

The EML calls upon European and international institutions to recognize the role of religious communities in promoting digital ethics, supporting educational programs that teach not only technical skills but also moral responsibility in the use of social media.

Protecting youth in the digital world means building a future based on compassion, mutual respect, and peace — values that Islam places at the very heart of social life.
