Humanitarian crises in different parts of the world continue to affect civilian populations disproportionately, particularly women, children, and families living without adequate protection. Limited access to essential aid, the destruction of basic infrastructure, and widespread insecurity further exacerbate already fragile living conditions, placing human dignity and survival at serious risk.
In such contexts, humanitarian assistance must be understood not only as an emergency response, but as a fundamental human responsibility. The protection of civilians requires sustained commitment rooted in solidarity, respect for life, and shared moral accountability, beyond political, ethnic, or religious divisions.
The European Muslims League (EML) reaffirms the importance of an approach grounded in universal values of justice, compassion, and the protection of human dignity. Through its activities, EML promotes awareness, dialogue, and cooperation in support of populations affected by conflict and humanitarian emergencies. Particular attention is given to the role of local communities, civil society, and solidarity networks as essential actors in ensuring protection, assistance, and social cohesion.
The safeguarding of civilians and unhindered access to humanitarian aid must remain a shared priority, so that responses to crises go beyond immediate relief and contribute to building conditions of dignity, security, and lasting peace for present and future generations.
In this context, Alfredo Maiolese, President of the European Muslims League, stated that “the protection of civilians and assistance to those who suffer are not merely humanitarian obligations, but moral imperatives that concern the conscience of all humanity. Indifference in the face of suffering allows injustice to become normalized.”
