Rome hosted the second edition of the “Ramadan Iftar Table”, a significant moment of dialogue between religions and cultures that brought together representatives of the main spiritual traditions along with numerous members of the international diplomatic community.
The initiative took place at the St. Regis Hotel in the Italian capital in the presence of approximately forty-eight ambassadors accredited to the Italian Republic and the Holy See, together with personalities from the religious, cultural and academic world.
Among the participants were Pietro Parolin, Secretary of State of the Holy See, the Grand Mufti of the Caucasus Allahshukur Pashazade and the Chief Rabbi of Rome Riccardo Di Segni, demonstrating the shared commitment of the major monotheistic traditions to promote dialogue and cooperation among peoples.
Also attending the meeting was Alfredo Maiolese, President of the European Muslims League (EML) and Ambassador at Large, present among the institutional guests together with the international diplomatic representation.
Among the ambassadors present were also the diplomatic representatives of the United States, Turkey and Kuwait, along with representatives from several other countries accredited in Rome.
The sharing of the Iftar, the traditional breaking of the fast during the holy month of Ramadan, became an opportunity for dialogue and encounter among different religious communities, reinforcing a message of mutual respect, cooperation and peaceful coexistence.
The initiative, promoted by the Embassies of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Kingdom of Morocco to the Holy See and organized by the Media International Communication Club, aims to encourage dialogue between religions and cultures at a time marked by international tensions and conflicts.
Now in its second edition in 2026, following the first meeting held in 2025, the initiative is gradually establishing itself as one of the most important interfaith dialogue gatherings hosted in the Italian capital.
For the European Muslims League (EML), dialogue between religious communities represents a fundamental tool to build bridges between cultures and to promote a society based on mutual respect, cooperation and peace.
The meeting has attracted the attention of numerous Italian and international media outlets, confirming the growing interest in initiatives that promote dialogue between religions and cultures during the holy month of Ramadan.
