The European Muslims League (EML) expresses deep concern over the continuing deterioration of the situation in the West Bank and the growing climate of tension affecting civilian populations, further fueling instability, fear, and division in a region already profoundly marked by years of conflict.
In recent days, several European countries have drawn international attention to the importance of respecting international law and preventing further developments that could undermine the prospects for a just and lasting peace between Israelis and Palestinians. In this context, the issue of settlements in the occupied territories continues to represent one of the most sensitive and widely discussed matters within international diplomatic debate.
The European Muslims League reiterates that any path toward peace must be based on respect for human dignity, international legality, and the protection of civilian populations, regardless of their religious or national identity. The suffering of families, children, and communities affected by the conflict cannot be regarded as ordinary or acceptable.
EML also recalls the importance of religious coexistence and the preservation of the spiritual character of the Holy Land, a sacred place for Muslims, Christians, and Jews alike. In a historical period marked by polarization and radicalization, it is essential to avoid hatred, extremism, and confrontational rhetoric that risk further increasing tensions even within European societies.
The President of the European Muslims League, Alfredo Maiolese, stated that “peace cannot emerge from permanent confrontation, but from the courage of dialogue, mutual respect, and the willingness of the international community to support concrete paths of coexistence and stability. Defending international law means defending the dignity of peoples and the very possibility of building a shared future.”
The European Muslims League therefore renews its appeal for moderation, the protection of civilians, and the relaunch of diplomatic and humanitarian initiatives capable of fostering a climate of mutual trust, in accordance with the principles of peace, justice, and international cooperation.
