Today, August 14, 2025, the seventh commemoration of the Morandi Bridge tragedy was held in Genoa — a moment of remembrance and reflection for the 43 victims and for the entire community.

The European Muslim League took part in the ceremony by official invitation, represented by its President, Ambassador Alfredo Maiolese, once again confirming the organization’s commitment to being present at the most significant moments of civic and institutional life.

During the event, President Maiolese met with several Italian authorities, including the new Mayor of Genoa, Silvia Salis, attending her first official commemoration in office. The tricolor sash she wore symbolically represented the continuity of the institutions’ commitment to memory and justice.

The ceremony took place next to the 14.08.2018 Memorial, in the presence of the victims’ families and civil, religious, and military authorities. Particularly moving moments included the minute of silence, marked by the sound of ship sirens in the port and the tolling of bells, as well as the official speeches that stressed the importance of keeping memory alive and continuing efforts to ensure safety and prevention.

The participation of the European Muslim League in this commemoration reaffirms the value of dialogue, solidarity, and respect for institutions — fundamental principles for building stronger and more aware communities.
