The European Muslims League Expresses Condolences for the Passing of the Pope Francis – A Symbol of Peace, Dignity, and Interreligious Dialogue

With deep sorrow, the European Muslims League, led by Dr. Alfredo Maiolese, has received the news of the passing of the Pope, a prominent religious figure and a tireless advocate for mercy, peace, and dialogue in our time.

His memory will endure as a global voice of conscience and a leader who stood alongside the oppressed, the poor, and the needy across the world. Through his words and actions, he demonstrated a strong commitment to justice, solidarity, and the dignity of every human being.

The European Muslims League appreciates his efforts to strengthen interfaith dialogue, in particular the signing of the Document on Human Fraternity with the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar in Abu Dhabi – a significant milestone in promoting understanding and cooperation between Muslims and Christians in the 21st century.

He took a firm stand against injustice, raised his voice for Gaza and other suffering peoples, and strongly condemned Islamophobia and all forms of hatred and discrimination.

In this time of mourning, the League extends its condolences to the Catholic community and to all those who found inspiration in his efforts to build a more just and peaceful world.

He will be remembered as a brother in humanity and a sincere partner in interfaith dialogue.

Dr. Alfredo Maiolese
President, European Muslims League
