Everyone knew it then, and everyone knows it today. The dates change, the names and faces change, but the evil action remains the same. Throughout history, humanity has witnessed wars justified in the name of God, freedom, justice, or security. Yet God, the Most Merciful and the Most Compassionate, has never called upon humankind to destroy His beloved creation.
Those who dropped bombs on Hiroshima, those who drop them today on Gaza, or on any other battlefield, belong to the same logic of violence and dehumanization. Different faces, different languages — but one single hand directs the suffering, death, and hatred.
Wars are not only military confrontations; they are moral and spiritual confusion. A conflict is not just between armies, but between humanity and its own conscience. History teaches us that behind the crusades, behind ideological and religious slogans, lie power interests.
A symbolic example is Richard the Lionheart, King of England, celebrated as a “Christian hero” but who in fact joined the Third Crusade not for religious faith, but for political and personal interests. Richard also used the Crusade to keep his brother John Lackland away from the royal court, fearing his ambitions for the throne and his political intrigues.
This is why today it is essential to look at conflicts from outside the factions, with clear eyes, free from propaganda and manipulation. Only then can we understand that wars do not serve to protect peoples but to perpetuate the domination of the few over the many.
The European Muslims League strongly reaffirms that war is never the answer. Justice, dialogue, and respect for human life are the only weapons worthy of humanity. Those who kill in the name of God, in truth, betray God Himself.
“History teaches us that those who start wars rarely die on the battlefield. It is always the people who never wanted them who pay the price.” — Nizar Ramadan
