Imam Dr.Nader Akkad – Italy
Nader Akkad is an imam, engineer, and professor, and an Italian-Syrian citizen.
He earned a master’s degree in civil engineering, as well as a master’s and a PhD in seismic engineering from the University of Trieste.
He obtained a degree in Islamic sciences from Al-Azhar Al-sharif University in Egypt. He also earned a master’s degree in European Islamic studies and advanced diplomas for imams and ministers of worship at the University of Padua, promoted by the Ministry of University and Research and the Italian Ministry of the Interior for the training of Italian imams.
In Trieste, he served as an advisor, imam, and director of the Quranic school for the local Islamic community.
He currently collaborates with the Grand Mosque of Rome as imam, religious affairs advisor, fatwa specialist, and member of the joint scientific committee for lunar observation between INAF–Islamic Cultural Centre of Italy.
He is founder and co-president of the International Marian Muslim-Christian Commission of PAMI – Pontifical International Marian Academy, Vatican City.
He is general director of the Department of Islamic Studies at the International University Centre for Research and Innovation (CUIRIF).
He is founder and president of the EuroMediterranean Council for Dialogue (COEMED).
He is professor of Integral Ecology at the Pontifical Antonianum University (PUA).
He is professor and coordinator of the course in Mariology and Islamic Studies at PAMI.
He is professor of the Master’s course in Religious Building Design at Sapienza University of Rome.
He is professor of the Master’s course in Prevention of Radicalization at the University of Bari.
He has been named Peace Ambassador by the Universal Peace Federation for his commitment to interreligious dialogue.
He is engaged in interreligious dialogue with the Italian Episcopal Conference (CEI).
